Before a shovel hits the dirt we walk your block with you, listen to how you actually want to use it, and draw a plan that fits the land, the light and the budget.

Built in stages

A plan lets a garden happen over two or three years without waste. The drainage and the hard levels go in first, then the surfaces, then the planting. Done in that order nothing gets dug up twice, and you can stop between stages without the block looking unfinished.

How we work

Most gardens that disappoint people were never designed, they were bought in pieces. A plan is what stops the paving being ordered before anyone worked out where the water goes, and it is what lets a build happen in stages without the second stage undoing the first.

Our plans are made to be built, because we are the ones building them. That means levels, drainage and materials are decided on paper by people who will have to stand in the hole later, and it means the drawing and the quote describe the same garden.

Questions we get asked

Do I need a landscape design or can I just get a quote?
For a single element, like a deck or a path, a quote is enough. For a whole block, or for anything staged, the plan pays for itself the first time it stops you laying paving where the drainage needed to run. If you already have a designer's plan we are happy to build to it.
What does a landscape design cost?
It depends on the size of the block and how far the drawing needs to go. A concept plan for a suburban backyard is a modest fixed fee. A full documented plan for an acreage build is a larger piece of work. We tell you which one your job needs, and the fee is quoted before we start.
How long does the design process take?
Usually two to four weeks from the site visit to a concept you can react to, then a round of changes. Getting your thoughts back to us quickly is the biggest thing that shortens it.
